What Is It?
Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment
Most people don’t realize
they can reclaim it
If you worked in Japan and paid into the pension system (厚生年金 or 国民年金), you can claim back your contributions as a one-time payment after you leave the country. This is called the Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment (脱退一時金).
The amount depends on how long you contributed. The longer you worked in Japan, the more you get back. You must apply within 2 years of leaving Japan.
